Wevr and Time Inc. Partnering to Create More Brave VR

Wevr and Time Inc. are partnering up to produce VR content for Time’s new LIFE VR platform, which will  feature the best immersive storytelling content drawn from Time Inc.’s diverse roster of iconic worldwide brands,  including Time, People, Entertainment Weekly, and Sports Illustrated. Life VR will debut this fall as a free app for iOS and Android .

Wevr was recently at Time Inc.’s NewFronts in New York City giving attendees the opportunity to experience the VR edition of Sports Illustrated’s 2016 Swimsuit issue, and The Drive VR, two recent collaborations between Wevr and Time Inc. The first is a deeply immersive adaptation of Sports Illustrated’s iconic Swimsuit Issue that allows audiences to be transported to an exotic beach with some of the most beautiful women in the world. The second is a brand new VR experience for Time Inc.’s automotive culture site The Drive, which effectively delivers the experience of speeding full tilt around a race track in a classic 1991 Mazda RX-7 IGTO race car.

“Throughout its history, Life has been a lens through which to see deeper into the world around us,” explains Nancy Gibbs, editor of Time and head of the Life brand. “This breakthrough in technology now invites our audience not just to observe but to experience the stories we are telling.”

Chris Hercik, VP of creative and content at The Foundry, whom Time has put in place to handle Life VR content, says, “Virtual reality is a technological gift that will enable us to show viewers the world in a whole new way while continuing to deliver the most meaningful and relevant stories of our times in an immersive, forward-thinking way.”
